Our 30th anniversary

30 birthday badgeThis year marks the 30th anniversary since the Association was established by a group of volunteers.  We will be marking the occasion with a number of activities throughout the year.

Thanks to the support of our dedicated volunteers we have come a long way since we were founded by a group of people determined to help those affected by the disease.  Today, some 30 years on, we have over 3000 volunteers across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. 

We hope that everyone who has ever been affected by the disease joins us in commemorating 30 years of the MND Association.

How it all began

Founder members

Thirty years ago few people had heard of MND and even fewer knew anything about it.  Families were often left to cope alone, in ignorance and isolation. 

Through their own heart-breaking personal experiences a group of volunteers formed a group to support people affected by MND.
