Themed dunk-it! parties
Almost any occasion can be given a dunk-it! theme. Dip into these ideas to get your creative juices flowing!
The, ‘if you want to get ahead get a hat’ dunk-it!
It's the season to get out the posh frocks and hats, but there is no need for those without ‘must have’ tickets to Henley and Ascot to miss out. Throw your own garden party, with Pimms and croquet on the lawn.
Barbecue dunk
Those lazy days of summer are just made for al fresco eating. Luckily chicken drummers and sausages are made for dunking, simply provide ketchup, relish, mustard and mayo. Outdoor games such as giant Jenga and boules will appeal to those with a competitive side and stop them falling asleep in a deckchair!
Picnic dunk
Spread out the tartan rugs and evoke memories of childhood with hardboiled eggs dipped in salad cream and lashings of ginger beer. Or choose a mediterranean theme with hummus and pitta bread. Follow with Greek yoghurt, honey and fresh fruit.
The hot dunk
Organise a Bollywood evening. Glamour will be the order of the day as friends dunk poppadoms and naan bread into a big pot of something spicy.
The medieval dunk
Fancy dress compulsory and no knives and forks allowed. Serve chunky soup or stew in bowls with plenty of huge rustic hunks of bread. Nominate the Lord and Lady of the Manor to preside, a court jester to entertain and serving ‘wenches for authenticity!
The retro dunk
Get your friends together for some '70s dunk and funk. A chance to dust off the fondue, crack open the Liebfraumilch, and don those platform shoes! Go on, you know you’ve been looking for an excuse to download all of your favourite Abba tracks.
The traditional dunk
Tea and biscuits, probably the most popular dunk in Britain. Assemble some floral china, cut some thin cucumber sandwiches, bake (or buy) some suitably dunkable biscuits and you have the traditional dunk! Be sure to adjust the angle of your pinkie.
The black tie dunk
Turn dunking into an elegant art at a black tie ball. Champagne and strawberries will set the scene for your guests as they let their hair down and dunk, sorry, dance the night away.
The decadent dunk
Remember when the Vicar of Dibley launched herself headfirst into a gigantic chocolate fountain? Well, we think that she would have approved of dunk-it! Buy or hire a chocolate fountain and hope that your guests show some restraint by dunking only fresh fruit, marshmallows and amoretti.
School's out dunk
A chance to revisit the best days of your life! Dig out your old school tie and music from ‘your era’. Serve nostalgic favourites such as Twiglets and play silly games such as blindfolded jelly feeding.
Sunday brunch dunk
Invite your guests to rediscover the joy of dunking a soldier into a boiled or fried egg as part of a leisurely Sunday brunch dunk. Provide the Sunday papers for a real weekend treat.
dunk-it! at your local
If you cannot find a venue, ask your local pub or restaurant to organise an event with you. A food quiz with a curry supper or pool night with bangers and chips on the menu – a raffle with dunkable prizes should ensure a profitable night.
