NICE appraisal of riluzole
In January 2001 the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) published its guidance on the use of the drug riluzole (Rilutek) in the treatment of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
NICE recommended that riluzole be prescribed to individuals with the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) form of MND. (The term ALS is used interchangeably with MND in the UK).
