Set off from the slopes of Mount Kenya, Africa's second tallest peak.  Ride on and off road through deepest Kenya crossing the Equator.  Experience some of the country’s weird and wonderful flora and fauna.  Encounter savannah plains, game parks, tropical rainforests and traditional villages.  Finish on the shores of vast Lake Victoria.  Visit Nakuru for optional game drive with great wildlife and bird spotting opportunities.



What to expect

This challenge has been rated as challenging. You will cycle approx 400km over 9 days on mixed terrain from dirt tracks to tarmac with some steep uphill and downhill sections.

Intinerary:

DAY 1: Fly London – Nairobi.
DAY 2: Transfer to Nyeri. Warm up ride to Baden Powell’s grave. 
DAY 3: Views of Mount Kenya and Aberdale National Park.  Cross the Equator. 98km
DAY 4: Into Subukia Valley through tea plantations then transfer to Kabarnet. 57km
DAY 5: Tough climb of Elgeyo escarpment. Great views of Rift Valley. 93km
DAY 6: Through Kakamega Forest Reserve with its abundant wildlife. 110km
DAY 7: Mainly downhill to Kisumu on Lake Victoria. Celebratory meal. 53km
DAY 8: Transfer to Nakuru to relax or enjoy optional game drive.

DAY 9: Transfer to Nairobo airport for return flight to London.
