Great North Run - 5 Oct 2008

Great North Run logoThis 13 miles race takes you from the centre of Newcastle to South Shields. This is your chance to run in the 25 anniversary of the first race when a mere 12,000 participants took part, compared to 50,000 today! So read on and join the largest Half Marathon in Britian.

Golden Bond Places

Great North Run teddy The Association now has 150 Golden Bond Places to offer. To apply for one of these places the following criteria will need to be fulfilled:

  • You should have/have had a link to someone with Motor Neurone Disease
  • You must be able to pledge a minimum of £350

If you already have your own place and would like to run for us, please just get in touch - we will be pleased to welcome you into our Team!


When Do I Apply?

The entry system for the Great North Run usually opens around October and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The closing date is usually in January, however, places have been known to run out prior to this date.

What Support Will I Get?

As being part of one of our valued teams, you will receive:

  • A running vest/T-shirt
  • Fundraising materials, i.e. sponsor forms
  • A newsletter filled with updates, training information and fundraising information
  • An invitation for you and guests to attend our post race reception on the day
