Walk to D'Feet MND 2008 - Find out more
Thank you so much for your interest in Walk to D’Feet* MND... How do I take part?
Getting involved is very simple. You can either organise your own walk or join a walk that is already taking place in your area - see our latest Walk Venues.
Organise your own walk and become a Team Leader. Choose when, where and how far to walk. Click here for more information about how to Become a team leader.
If you decide not to become a Team Leader and there isn't currently a walk in your area, email Fundraising or call National Office direct on 01604 611860 and we will do our best to find more walkers in your area!
We will provide you with sponsor forms, MND awareness leaflets, a branded T-shirt and Certificates for all walkers, along with any other fundraising materials and help that you require.
What responsiblities does a Team Leader have?
You will need to think about:
- Finding a suitable location for your walk and deciding when it will take place
- Choosing a Team Name (this can be light-hearted or serious)
- Registering your walk with National Office (this helps us to measure how successful Walk to D’Feet* MND has been)
- Recruiting for your walk
- Publicity (We provide press releases in our pack)
- Distributing our specially branded Walk to D’Feet* T-shirts, badges and certificates to all of your walkers on the day of the walk
- Ensuring all of your walkers sign the Registration Form on the day of the walk
Collecting in all of your walkers’ sponsorship. Send it to National Office before 31 July to enter the Awards!

What will happen after my walk?
We provide you with a Team Leader Record/Income Sheet in your pack to help you with this - so that you can concentrate on finding out how much your team raised!
You will need to send all sponsorship money to National Office, using the paying-in slip provided (unless you are an Associated MND Branch or Group).
You can pay monies directly into the Association’s bank account, but please make sure you quote the reference on your paying in slip and post the slip to let us know how much you paid in and when.
Remember, the closing date for the Awards is 31st July so if you would like to be entered you need to send your sponsorship to National Office before then!
Is there anything special I have to do as an Associated MND Branch or Group Team Leader?
You will need to send in the Team Leader Record/Income Sheet (included in your pack) and Branch Total Confirmation Slip to National Office, to find out how successful Walk to D'Feet* is this year!
Helpful tips for walkers
- Arrive at the start of the walk about half-an-hour early, giving yourself plenty of time to meet everyone, read the Health and Safety Guidelines and sign in on the Walkers’ Register.
- Ensure you have given your Team Leader your T-shirt size (M or XL) so that you can receive your T-shirt on the day.
- Wear suitable clothing and shoes – layers are good in case you start getting
warm! Bring a bottle of water with you – it’s important to drink plenty of fluids. - Try to raise as much awareness as possible as well as raising much needed funds and most importantly Enjoy yourself!
Note:
If you are a family registering a walk, you will only need to complete one sponsorship form for your family household. Each person participating in the walk will have to complete and sign the Walk Register on the day of the walk to confirm they have read and accepted the Health and Safety Guidelines of this event.
Your sponsorship
- Collect your sponsorship as quickly as possible and return to the Team Leader. The closing date of the Awards for the largest walk and most money raised is 31 July!
- GIFT AID allows us to claim the tax back from your donations – that’s an
additional 28%! To help us to claim this, please add up the total sponsorship at the bottom of each sponsor form - Return your sponsor form and money to your Team Leader. To simplify Gift Aid, if possible, return your sponsor money as one cheque. This should equal the total amount on your sponsor form
- The sponsorship money should tie up EXACTLY with the amount specified as
‘collected’ on the sponsorship forms. If it does not, we may not be able to claim the Gift Aid.
