The Vandravan Thakrar Tribute Fund

Uma Cresswell and her brother Ronak Thakrar, decided to set up a Tribute Fund in memory of their father, Vandravan, who died from MND.

"He asked us to raise as much money and awareness as possible in his memory. This is precisely what his Tribute Fund has enabled us to do."

The Vandravan Thakrar Tribute Fund gave Uma, from Wanstead, East London, a special focus when she raised money for the MND Association at her wedding reception.

She said: "My partner David and I decided to ask friends and family to donate money to my father’s Tribute Fund rather than give us wedding gifts. It was my way of remembering him on my special day and I knew it is what he would have wanted. He was always a very practical man, and when he was diagnosed with MND said that if he had to die, he wanted his death to be for a reason.

"He asked us to raise as much money and awareness as possible in his memory. This is precisely what his Tribute Fund has enabled us to do."
