Hospital Travel Costs Scheme
More people are now eligible for help towards the cost of attending hospital appointments, following changes to the Department of Health's Hospital Travel Costs Scheme.
More people to benefit from Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme.
The Department of Health has announced changes to the Scheme, and re-named it the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme (HTCS), as part of a commitment to improve access to healthcare services, both within primary and secondary care.
The HTCS is part of the NHS Low Income Scheme, which exists to ensure individuals are not denied access to healthcare because they can’t afford the travel costs to attend appointments.
The DH has no immediate plans to produce any new literature about the scheme, but have set up a Helpline for individuals wanting more information, or need help making a claim. Tel: 0845 850 1166 or email: dh@prolog.uk.com
