Children and Young People - New Information

Our information for children and young people has been reviewed recently.  With the help and support of health and social care professionals, MND Association volunteers and young people affected by MND, this information is now available.

We are especially indebted to the young people affected by MND who have given their time and support to the development of this literature.

When someone close has MND

'When someone close has MND' is an interactive workbook thoughtfully developed to inform children aged between 4 years and 10 years about Motor neurone Disease (MND).

The workbook is not intended to be given as a handout and has been designed so that adults and children work through the book together, so that information about MND can be introduced to children as and when the time is appropriate.

The rationale behind the workbook is to enable children to learn about MND at the appropriate time for them and to offer children the opportunity to get involved by taking part (if they wish) in a variety of activities in the workbook.  The interactive sections are specifically designed as a way of promoting coping strategies.

The MND Association is indebted to Liz Gale of the Trinity Hospice for her input and expertise into the development of this new resource.

You can obtain a copy of the workbook by contacting MND Connect 08457 626262 mndconnect@mndassociation.org

So what is MND Anyway?

'So what is MND anyway?' aims to inform and support young people affected by MND, from the point of someone's diagnosis and throughout their journey.  This resource has been thoughtfully put together to promote coping strategies and includes a range of quotes from young people affected by MND.

We hope this publication will empower young people, to develop their own strategies for coping.
