GOING THAT EXTRA MILE FOR MAUREEN
For Maureen, the four Professionals she has nominated for an Extra Mile Award (EMA) play an incredibly important role in her life. In fact the EMAs have given her the perfect opportunity to say thank you. “They are all extremely caring and they all give me their time and tremendous support”, she says. "I consider myself really lucky."
Team Maureen!
Maureen’s Professionals in her own words work “amazingly as a team”. And her EMAs nominations show just that. Vicky, her Occupational Therapist, visits Maureen once a month but keeps in regular contact by phone and email so that she can respond appropriately as Maureen’s needs change.
Jo, her Physiotherapist, took the time to train two District Nurses so that Maureen could receive physiotherapy on the weeks that she was unable to visit and until a Crossroads carer was available to be trained. These two Nurses are Jenny and Lyn and they have been happy to visit Maureen to provide physio which technically is not part of their role.

Maureen’s Professionals are over the moon with their nominations and are touched too that she made the effort to nominate. For Vicky, receiving an EMA has made her very proud. “It’s lovely to receive thanks and it’s lovely that it recognises good practice.”
