Zips

Zips are more easily pulled up and down if a key ring is hooked through the eye.
Inserting a zip in jogging trousers from the pocket to the bottom of the leg makes a catheter more easily accessible.

Nightwear

Light weight silky nightwear and dressing gowns are easier to take off and help manoeuvrability in bed.

Larger sizes

Reduce discomfort by buying larger underpants and knickers with an elasticated waist band.
Wear shirts with pockets large enough to put in personal items such as spectacles.

Keeping warm

  • Sitting in a quilted bag is better than a blanket that can slip.
  • Layers of loose fitting lightweight clothing make the best insulation.
  • Warm your clothes before putting them on.
Wear a body warmer as they are easier to put on/take off

Fingerless gloves

Combination fingerless gloves/mittens sold in many department stores and independent outlets are great during cold weather. Fingers work better for longer.

For easy to wear clothing

Changing zip fastenings to velcro can make clothes easier to put on.
Elasticated jogging trousers or skirts will pull on more easily.

Clothing for wheelchair users

A range of special shower proof capes, sitting bags and other garments can be obtained from specialist clothing manufacturers.
