Meet the characters in Holby City who are affected by Gina’s illness.

Gina Hope

Gina is a former GP who, despite having MND, remains determined to live as independent a life as possible.

Elliot Hope

Holby City Consultant Elliot is married to Gina. A caring and devoted husband, he struggles to come to terms with Gina's illness.

Connie Beauchamp

Connie is an experienced, no-nonsense Surgeon who doesn’t suffer fools gladly. A friendship develops between Gina and Connie, but she finds emotional implications difficult.

Joseph Byrne

Caught up in the drama of Gina’s respiratory arrest on 11 April 2006, Joseph feels compelled to help Elliot carry out a secret tracheotomy, which compromises his professional judgement.

James and Martha Hope

Gina and Elliot’s two children watch on as their mum's condition deteriorates. At first Martha is angry, but after accepting their mum is seriously ill, they both help out as best they can.
