Holby: The story so far...

In Switzerland, Gina regrets not telling Elliot of her plans.  Fortunately, Connie had already called Elliot and told him everything.  Elliot boards a plane and gets to Gina’s side in time. They talk about old times and Gina asks him to play a CD after she takes the drugs.  As Gina’s life slips away, the CD plays a recording of Elliot singing Moondance.

Gina decides to go to the assisted suicide clinic in Switzerland that day, without telling Elliot. But she needs Connie’s help with the arrangements. Connie is devastated about not being able to tell Elliot.

Gina tells Elliot and James that she is going on a girls-only holiday. She says an emotional goodbye, and at the last minute, a distraught Connie joins her in the cab.

Gina pours her heart out to Connie and reveals she wants a dignified death. She declares she wants to attend a Swiss assisted suicide clinic but needs Connie's help.

Connie informs Elliot that Gina's disease has spread. He confesses he longed for Gina's suffering to end.

Fraught with emotion, Connie helps Gina fill in the application form to attend the clinic in Switzerland.

Margaret returns to Holby, experiencing breathing difficulties. She has a DNR (Do Not Resucitate) and dies during an opertaion.

Following news of Margaret's death, Gina decides not to travel to Singapore for stem cell treatment, preferring to spend time with her family.

Elliot treats a patient called Margaret who has MND, and discovers she has undergone stem cell treatment. Despite concerns being voiced by his colleagues, Elliot is convinced the treatment is beneficial and suggests it to Gina.

Gina briefly visits Elliot at Holby. She is having trouble walking and uses a stick for support.

Gina's trache has become infected. She undergoes an operation to have a new fenestrated tube fitted, which allows her to speak more easily.

Gina is at home when she goes into respiratory arrest. Elliot rushes her into hospital where he carries out a secret tracheotomy with the help of Joseph Bryne.

Gina first appears in Holby City. Her legs and hands are weakening.
