MND ASSOCIATION TRIBUTE FUNDS RAISE OVER £1 MILLION
04 January 2007
Over 360 Tribute Funds have been set up since the programme was introduced in 2004, generating over £1 million (excluding gift aid) for the MND Association.
Tribute Funds provide people with a meaningful, positive way to remember someone special, while raising money in their name. Each contribution acts as a personal tribute and supports the work of the MND Association.
A Tribute Fund can have its own webpage, where family, friends and colleagues can leave messages and donate securely to the Fund online.
John Dalton died from MND in May last year and the John Dalton Tribute Fund was set up soon after. His daughters, Julie and Michelle, part of girl group Milan, have recorded a special CD where all the proceeds go to their dad’s Fund.
Julie says: “The Tribute Fund is such a wonderful idea, and the online messages left by people after the funeral were a real comfort to the family. The Fund gives me and the rest of the family something positive to focus on.”
Stephen May, Legacies and Tribute Funds Manager at the MND Association, said: “We are delighted that our Tribute Funds have now exceeded the £1 million mark.
“They have gone from strength to strength and for that we have to thank those marvellous supporters who have embraced the idea behind these Funds. They provide a special, positive way of honouring a loved one while raising money to support people affected by MND.”
