Online diaries

We have asked three delegates attending the 19th International Symposium on ALS/MND to record their thoughts as online diaries as they prepare for and attend the meeting.
We hope that their entries will give a feeling for what it is like to attend the meeting, gossip and network with their friends and colleagues and take home some new ideas that they can put into practice in the future.

As you will see from their biographies Robert, Emily and Catarina are all at different stages of their MND research careers.

Robert Hartley's Diary

Robert is a research fellow in the Centre for Neuroscience Research at the University of Edinburgh. This will be the first time that he has attended the International Symposium.

Emily Goodall's Diary

Emily is a postdoctoral research scientist working at the University of Sheffield. After her father died of MND in 1998 Emily got involved in MND research to try to help prevent this disease affecting others in the future.

Catarina Gomes's Diary

Portuguese student Catarina hopes that the knowledge that she will gain from attending the Symposium will help her prepare her PhD thesis.
