Research Grants

Realising our vision of A World Free of MND means investing in research into the causes, treatments and prevention of MND.

In 2009, the MND Association began the implementation of new processes regarding the application and awarding of biomedical research grants, described in our Research Governance Overview.

The next grant round is for Biomedical PhD Studentships only. The deadline date for summary applications is 07 May 2010.

We are not currently inviting summaries for Healthcare grants until further notice.

The following areas of research will be supported:-

Biomedical Research Project Grants

Funding research of the highest scientific merit and greatest clinical or translational relevance to MND.

Biomedical PhD Studentships

An effective means of attracting promising science graduates to develop a career in MND-related research.

Clinical Research Fellowships

Supporting the laboratory or clinical-based research training of medically qualified applicants (in collaboration with the Medical Research Council).

Healthcare Research Grants

Building evidence to support our Clinical Guidelines, thus improving quality of care for people affected by MND.

Summary Deadlines

The deadlines for summary applications are given on the pages for the specific grant awards listed above.
