2020 was the year the MND Association embraced collaboration and innovation like never before. And that spirit was in full display at the first virtual International Symposium on ALS/MND in December 2020.
Now in its 31st year, the Symposium is the world’s largest MND-focused medical and scientific event. It brings experts together to share and discuss the latest advances in MND research and clinical management.
It’s such an important event that, even in a year where many thousands of public events have been cancelled worldwide, we had to find a way to keep the global MND research conversation going. Just eight months after cancelling the in-person
event in Montreal due to the coronavirus, our dedicated team welcomed the world to the online Symposium.
A record 1,626 delegates checked in via the live virtual platform from 48 countries across the world, making this the biggest MND Symposium ever. And with 60 people living with MND getting involved too, it was by far the most inclusive and internationally diverse event we’ve ever put together.
