On Tuesday 17 October we held our annual parliamentary reception at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster. We were joined by 139 volunteers including 39 people living with MND, who spoke to MPs about the additional financial cost of living with MND and shared their personal experiences.
51 parliamentarians attended the event, and spoke to branch and group members from their region about MND and about their experiences within the local area. Volunteers and MPs also had the opportunity to take pictures with our patron Charlotte Hawkins, who kindly gave her time to attend the event.
The APPG on MND launched a report on access to PIP, based on an inquiry which found that people with MND were experiencing problems throughout the PIP process.
Volunteers heard speeches from Chris Evans MP, Rob Owen who is living with MND, MND Association patron and TV Presenter Charlotte Hawkins, and Penny Mordaunt MP, Minister for Disabled People, Work and Health.
Thank you so much to all the volunteers and guests who were involved in making the 2017 reception a huge success!
