Your local campaigning team
Our local campaigning team is made up of four Campaigns Managers who help our supporters to raise awareness of MND among decision makers and improve services for people with MND and their families.
They work to deliver our national campaigns and to campaign on local issues we have identified with branches, groups and colleagues, for example, access to a MND nurse.
The four Campaigns Managers cover a difference part of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. View a map of their patches here.
Helen Riley, Local Campaigns Co-ordinator East
Julie (JC) Compton, Campaigns Manager (North)
“Hello, I’m Julie and everyone knows me as JC. I’ve been working for the Association for 10 years and it’s fantastic to be starting a new chapter in the North of England (North West, the North East and Yorkshire and Humber). I know some of you well but look forward to getting to know all of you much better!”
Rae Martin-Smith, Campaigns Manager (South)
“I’m Rae and I’ve come to the Association from Leonard Cheshire Disability, where I supported people with disabilities to improve housing and get the adaptations they need. My region covers the entire south of England from Cornwall to Kent. I absolutely love campaigning, so much so that I volunteer as a campaigner in my spare time!”
Tim Atkinson, Campaigns Manager (West)
“Hi, I’m Tim and I’m excited to be here as campaigns manager for the Western region – the Isle of Man, Merseyside & Cheshire, Northern Ireland, Wales and the West Midlands. Previously, I’d been a campaigner and trainer with the environmental charity Friends of the Earth. I’ll be working hard in the next few months helping the Association in Wales and Northern Ireland get ready for Assembly elections next year.”
Making our voice louder
The Association has recently expanded its local campaigning function because many of the people making decisions about the services people with MND and their carers rely on are now found at the local level.
Come to the local campaigning team for:
- Information about how to get involved in our campaigns as a volunteer
- Issues with local services (NHS, social care, housing etc) which you think might be raised or resolved through campaigning, and advice on action to take
- Advice or support on taking our national campaigns forward locally
- Advice on meetings with politicians such as MPs, assembly members or councillors, and other decision makers
