VDC corner: Chris Noble – North
"I often wonder how many miles I’ve travelled during my 16 years with the MND Association in the Northern Region. In April I had one of those runs where every day had a different meeting, venue, and focus - with quite a few miles in-between!
Day 1: Skipton - to meet our new Regional Fundraiser for the North, Ray Nash. Ray wanted to hear all about the role of groups and branches and how he can support them in their fundraising goals.
Day 2: Thornaby - Planning meeting with 3 groups who are getting together to hold an afternoon tea in October for their members past and present to mark the MND Association’s 40th anniversary.
Day 3: Darlington - to meet with 2 RCDAs to catch up on shared work goals in our areas. Planning a session for our Get Connected North East meeting where we the north east groups and branches come together twice a year. The focus of the session will be on working together to help extend the local reach of the groups and branches.
Day 4: York - An exploratory meeting with Tim Atkinson on the Carers Champion Project, along with RCDA Colin Pearson and several of the experienced volunteers who are currently either doing the role or have a focus on carers.
Day 5: Office day - catching up on emails, admin and phone calls.
No two days are ever the same and although office time is very welcome my favourite part of the role is always getting out and meeting the volunteers."
