Contactless and card donation trial update
Thank you to all volunteers who helped us trial contactless and card donation devices last year.
Whilst demand for these devices is fairly low, we are keen to learn from the trial and invest in the right technology as demand is likely to grow in the future.
Thanks to those that got involved last year, we now understand more about these devices and how they are used. A limitation from last year was the devices needed pairing with a mobile phone for example and some struggled when the mobile signal wasn’t strong. We also learnt that more branches and groups need a simple mobile card reader rather than the more advanced contactless devices.
Taking this into account, we are working with partners to set up access for volunteers to two different, simpler, devices and will let branches and groups know when these are available.
In the meantime, should you have an event that you feel will benefit from either a card reader or a contactless donation tin, we are looking for people to try out the new devices at events this spring/summer. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with some details of your event.
