Data Protection

In your volunteer role you may handle individual’s personal information. This includes names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses or funding requests – indeed anything that allows someone to be identified.

People must be able to trust the Association with their personal information and be confident that any information they disclose to staff or volunteers is treated with respect and confidence.

We have a number of legal obligations to protect people’s personal information under the Data Protection Act 1998, whether it is stored electronically or in hard copy.

This also applies to the correct disposal of information that is no longer required or out of date.

Any breach of the Data Protection Act within the Association can have serious consequences for us both financially and to our reputation, so it is important that volunteers follow the correct procedures. Please take time to review our information.
