Health and Safety

The Association, like all organisations, has moral and legal obligations and responsibilities with regard to health and safety.

Health and safety is everyone’s responsibility. The activities volunteers are involved with are an important part of our work. While we would not wish to discourage anyone from undertaking opportunities to improve the lives of people living with MND, their families and carers, we all have a duty to keep people safe.

It is essential that volunteers consider the risks that could arise at any event being planned, by carrying out a risk assessment. The forms, once completed, should be kept for reference for three years.

Risk management involves not only looking at the risks that could arise, but also putting into place sensible health and safety measures to control them.

Our Health and Safety Guidance provides more detailed information of the risks you need to consider. Our overall Health and Safety Policy, comprising three documents, is also provided for your information. If you have any queries or require further guidance please contact your regional fundraiser or the Volunteering Team.
