The difference a leaflet makes…

When Lindsay Gibson left a box of awareness leaflets at her solicitor’s office she had no idea they would lead to a £60,000 donation being made.

Lindsay, who lost her mother to MND and chairs the Worcestershire Branch, said: “I always try to leave boxes of leaflets promoting the Association in shops around the area, but it can be difficult to get the support of others to spread the message.

“My solicitor was aware that my mother had been diagnosed with MND before she died and had, in fact, dealt with the probate. She was also aware that I am a volunteer for the Association, so when I asked if I could leave some leaflets about the Association and about making wills and bequests, she agreed but did not think anything would come of it.”

Shortly afterwards, Lindsay received a call to say that a family, who were dealing with their relative’s estate, had decided to donate part of the proceeds to us after seeing the leaflets.

Lindsay said: “Some people do not know that donations can be made to charity in this way, so it is important that we get the message across.”
