Building corporate connections
On 22 May, Helen Warren and Rosemary Rocket from the Southampton and Winchester District Group talked about MND to a group of employees at Ageas insurance in Eastleigh.
Helen explains: “It was pre-arranged that we had four groups of six or seven people for 45 minutes each. We explained to them what MND is and answered their questions about the disease, its progression and how to deal emotionally with the fact that their colleague of 25 years has recently been diagnosed.
“It was quite daunting to start with and not something I have ever done but by group number three, we were getting the hang of it!”
She adds: “When we arrived there were members of staff in MND T shirts with collection buckets catching everyone as they arrived. By lunchtime they had raised over £800. A member of staff had also recently done an event and raised £650.”
Ageas insurance is now considering the MND Association for their charity of the year in 2016.
