Walk to D’feet MND – 25 October 2015
There was a good turn out for Walk to D’feet on a lovely mild sunny morning. Walkers decided how many times they walked round Bedford park. When they were done the café in the park was a convenient spot for refreshment and chit chat.
The amount raised is still to be confirmed.
Summer Social in Stevington
A wonderful and companionable afternoon was enjoyed at Kathy Brown’s garden in Stevington. Members of the group met to chat and stroll through the garden on a lovely sunny day before sitting to enjoy afternoon tea and scrummy cakes. Bliss!
Walk to D’feet
Our walk took place on 26 October which was an autumn day rather than Indian summer.
Our route started from the Dehavilland hangar on the Shuttleworth estate, through the estate and around Old Warden village in Bedfordshire. The Shuttleworth estate is well known for its magnificent collection of flying machines, vintage cars and period pieces. It also also includes the Swiss Garden. The walk was a pleasurable stroll in the park! The event raised £430 for the group.
Great North run
Annette and Karen faced up to the challenge of the Great North run once again. Their sterling effort and drive raised a total of £525.
A local salon held a pamper event raising a smooth £327.
The Chief Constable wet herself when she took the Ice Bucket challenge. Her colleagues were happy to oblige with supplying the buckets. The event raised £366.
Quiz night at Bromham village hall
Teams were invited to test their general knowledge at the group’s quiz night at the beginning of October which helped us to raise £309.
In addition a kind donation was received for £70.
Our thanks go to all the fund raisers and donors for supporting the group and people living with MND.
Lunch at Restaurant 25
On 16 April, the North Beds Group held a MND Lunch at Restaurant 25 (Bedford College Hospitality Training restaurant). It was organised by Rita and Maureen, with the help of college representative Bev Sawart, and 28 people attended who all considered it a great success. The food and service were excellent, all the staff being most professional and attentive.
We raised just over £200, which was a contribution from the tickets sales, and of course a raffle.
