It is with much regret that the decision has been taken to cancel our open meeting / AGM on Sunday 18th March in view of the adverse weather conditions that have been forecast. The next open support meeting and branch AGM will be held from 3-5pm on Sunday 24 June. Everyone is welcome to our open support meeting – whether you are living with MND, or are a carer, family member or friend of someone with MND, please do come along. However, if you have any particular points that you were hoping to raise at Sunday’s meeting that cannot wait until then, please don’t hesitate to email the Branch Chair Janis Parks on janismnd@gmail.com.

For those of you who could not attend either the AGM or the branch open meeting in September, you can catch up on our YouTube channel. Here you can watch our Trustee and Branch Chair, Janis Parks, talking about the progress made this year and future plans of the branch. Additionally, watch Dr Brian Dickie’s presentation on current research projects funded by the hugely successful Ice Bucket Challenge. You can also view the open meeting with Yvonne Maxwell, who is a new Regional Care Development Adviser (RCDA), whose current operational area includes Richmond, which is covered by the branch. Furthermore, you can view the open meeting with Sarah Vines who is the Mobility Services Manager at the Queen Elizabeth Foundation (QEF).

The next Carers’ Group meeting is on Tuesday 20 March, 7:15 – 8:45pm at Oddfellows Hall, Richmond.

We’re delighted to invite you to a regional conference for 2018 at Wyboston Lakes, Bedford on Saturday 24 March 2018 from 10am-4pm. The event includes the opportunity to hear and ask questions about the latest care services and support available. There will also be an opportunity to sample innovative products and services offered by exhibitors and most importantly, plenty of time to network with other people affected by MND. There is no fee for people with MND, family members and carers or registered Association Visitors. For other delegates there is a registration fee of £15, which includes lunch and all refreshments. Free parking is available. You can register to attend in the following ways: www.mndassociation.org/regionalconferences, Email: conference@mndassociation.org, or Telephone: 01604 611837.

Our annual Bushy Park Walk will be on the 15 July 2018, based at National Physical Laboratory Sports Club, Queen’s Road, Teddington. Registration will be from 10am at the clubhouse with the Walk starting promptly at 10.30am. Unbelievably, this will be the branch’s 20th Bushy Park Walk, so it will be extra special. Please make sure you have the date firmly fixed in your calendar. Friends and family are very welcome at this fun event and we hope to have lots of walkers, so let them know the date now. Put the date in your diary and share our JustGiving page for the walk which will be launched on 18 March!
