MND Benefits Advice service breaks the £1million barrier

PIP Booklets

We are delighted to report that after just eight months our welfare benefits advice service has identified over £1 million of benefits that people living with, or affected by MND are eligible to claim.

It provides free, confidential and impartial benefits advice to people living with and affected by MND.

We originally trialled the service using funds raised through the ice bucket challenge before launching across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. To date it has dealt with over 600 enquiries, 130 involving complex issues, with 99% of users expressing high levels of satisfaction with the service. It has also helped refer callers on to their local Citizens Advice service and to other advice agencies for help with other problems such as housing and employment.

You can find more information and how to contact the service by phone, e-mail and web chat on our benefits advice page.

Below are some of the quotes we have received in relation to the service:

“The project has helped immensely. Without it I would have had a lot more sleepless nights. I would have sunk into depression. You do get to the stage where you think there’s nothing, oh God, how am I going to manage financially.”

“I felt because I was getting that bit of support, I had someone to lean on.”
