Video information website myTube has been announced Nutrition Resource of the Year 2017, by Complete Nutrition Magazine.

This candid personal video resource provides guidance about tube feeding for people with MND, who experience problems with swallowing, eating and drinking.

The myTube team involved patients and carers, past members of the South Yorkshire MND Association, members of the Sheffield MND Research Advisory Group of patients and the public, researchers from Prof Chris McDermott’s team at SITraN, and Registered Nurse filmmaker and videographer Cathy Soreny.

The resulting videos share personal experiences about decision making on tube feeding and living with a tube once fitted. The aim is to help others identify, and feel informed and supported.

The myTube team said of the award,

“The whole myTube Team are very pleased to accept this Award from Complete Nutrition…We are so pleased that the health professionals who have voted for myTube recognise the value of this resource, and we hope that they will continue to recommend it to patients living with MND who are making the decision about gastrostomy tube placement.”

The myTube project was co-funded by the MND Association and Westfield Health Charitable Trust.
