#MyEyesSay – Our 2017 Awareness Month campaign launches
If your eyes were all you could move, what would you say with them?
That is the question we are asking as we launch this year’s Awareness Month campaign – #MyEyesSay.
What is MND Awareness Month?
Every year, beginning June 1 and running throughout the month, the Association raises awareness by using the stories of real people whose lives have been shattered by MND. This year, we’ll be sharing the experiences of Gemma and Dave who are living with the disease, and Vivienne, whose husband Tony died in 2016.
What will I see?
To support the campaign, there will be posters featuring Gemma and Dave across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our Patrons Stephen Hawking, Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne are also getting involved in helping to raise awareness and will feature on prominent advertising sites in Victoria, Kings Cross and Waterloo stations in London.
You can also visit the #MyEyesSay website to find out more about the stories behind the campaign, watch a short film, and coming later in the month take part in an interactive challenge that uses your own webcam to track your eye movements.
How can I get involved?
Across our social media channels, we’ll be encouraging you to get involved by using the hashtag #MyEyesSay and changing your profile picture to our specially created frame. We also want you to take a ‘selfie’ and share your message on what your eyes say. This will then become part of a collage on the #MyEyesSay website.
Global MND Awareness Day
On June 21, we’ll be taking over the Birmingham Media Eyes at New Street Station. Visitors to the station will see messages across all three large eye screens along with content from our Facebook and Twitter pages. There will also be volunteers on the ground helping to raise awareness and provide further information.
#MyEyesSay is looking to be a very exciting Awareness Month for the Association. Keep an eye on our social media channels for more events going on as the month continues.
