Improving the oral health of people with MND

Good oral health is critical for supporting nutrition and communication, reducing the risk of infection, and maintaining a good quality of life. There is little research on how to best support oral health in people with MND. Currently, oral health professionals are not integrated into MND multidisciplinary teams. This study will explore the oral health needs of people living with MND, the barriers that they face, and ways to improve their oral health.

You can find out more about the study on our Research We Fund page

How will this study help people with and affected by MND now and/or in the future?

The researchers hope that the findings of this project will help to improve future support for people with MND, and improve oral healthcare pathways.
