MND Association membership is one of the best ways you can help in the fight against motor neurone disease (MND), while getting the support you need too.
It’s membership, your way. Whether you are looking for advice and information, or you want to share your story or skills to help others, you can join a supportive community that’s together for the good days – and the bad ones.
As a member you’ll be alongside others, each working together towards a common goal and having your voices heard. You’ll also be the first to know whenever we take steps forward. You’ll receive our regular Thumb Print magazine, and you’ll have the chance to get involved in exclusive membership events too.
Not only that, by choosing to pay for your membership, you’ll help more people living with motor neurone disease to get the support they need. You’ll help increase knowledge and understanding of MND nationwide. And you’ll help make sure research can one day find a cure.
However you want to contribute in the fight against MND, membership is a brilliant way to start.

What is a membership?
When we talk about our membership, we are referring to those individuals who have signed up to be members of the MND Association.
What does it mean to be a member?
We want to give all our members the chance to get more closely involved in your Association’s work, using their skills and experience to raise awareness, help strengthen our voice and encourage others to get involved in the fight against MND.
How do i get involved with my local branch and group?
When you become a member of the Association, we will connect you with your local branch or group. To find your nearest, just type in your postcode on the website here www.mndassociation.org/find-support.
What do we mean by local branch group?
Our branches and groups are local networks of volunteers who meet together to fundraise, campaign and to provide support to local people living with and affected by MND.
I woild like to cancel my membership; how do i do this?
We are very sorry to hear this. Please call us on 01604 611860 or email us at [email protected] and we will be happy to help.
What are the benefits of membership?
As a member you will receive a welcome pack with pin badge and membership card, quarterly Thumb Print magazine, connection to your local branch or group, opportunity to attend and vote in the AGM and invitations to conferences and events. Most importantly it means you are part of a community working together to shape the Association’s activities.
Will I still receive my quarterly copy of Thumb Print magazine?
Yes. If you previously received Thumb Print, you will continue to receive it as previously. If you would like to opt out of receiving Thumb Print, please let us know on 01604 611860 or email us at [email protected].
How can I share my membership?
You can encourage others to become members through discussing your membership with those around you or sharing on social media. The bigger our membership community grows, the stronger we’ll become.
How can I share the campaigning, fundraising or volunteering I do?
We’d love you to help us spread awareness by discussing all the great things you are doing on social media or by just talking to your friends, colleagues and loved ones.
How can i introduce my family and friends?
We’d love you to help us grow our fantastic membership community by telling your family and friends about membership and helping them become a member themselves. Anyone can join by filling out the form online at https://www.mndassociation.org/membership/.
I don't have time to do the additional activities you've mentioned, is this a problem?
Not at all. We want membership of the Association to be for everyone so whether you are looking for support and information right now, or would like to do more, everyone is welcome and encouraged to join our community.
I'd like to use my skills and experience to help others with MND, how do I do this?
That’s fantastic thank you! Please call us on 01604 611860 or email us at [email protected] and we will be happy to help.
I currently receive my membership for free, do I have to pay for the membership now?
No, if you are currently entitled to free membership that remains the same. We don’t want cost to stop anyone from being a part of our membership community, so feel free to pay whatever you are able to – even if that’s nothing right now.
I pay for my membership via direct debit/standing order, can I continue to do so?
Yes of course. If you would like your direct debit or standing order to continue you don’t need to take any further action. When we send you your new membership card and pin badge, we will give you an opportunity to change or update your details if you would like to.
Do I still have to renew my membership?
No, we will send you a new pin badge each year on the anniversary of when you first joined and if you are happy to remain a member you won’t need to do anything.
Do I need to be a member to volunteer?
No, you do not need to be a member to volunteer for us, however, when you become a volunteer, we will make you a member of the Association automatically if you are not already and send you a welcome pack with your membership card and pin badge.
Do I need to pay to become a member/ Do i need to pay to volunteer?
No, we don’t want cost to stop anyone from being a part of our membership community, or from volunteering for us, so feel free to pay whatever you would like to – even if that’s nothing right now.
