People living with MND met the young researchers who are dedicating their careers to finding a cure at an event held in Northamptonshire in July.

The MND Association’s annual event, MND EnCouRage UK, brought together some of the brightest new talent in MND research to share details about their research, learn from each other and engage with members of the MND community.

Among them were Martyn Barrow and his wife Anna, who was diagnosed with MND in April 2023. They welcomed the opportunity to meet the researchers and learn more about the work going on behind the scenes.

Anna said: “It goes both ways. It's not just important for them to meet us to understand that there are people behind the disease, but also for us to meet them to understand the amazing work they’re doing.”

Martyn added: “It’s great to be able to understand what's going on behind the scenes and, and what the Association is doing to fund these individuals to conduct their studies, which you can be quite removed from. It has been a really positive experience.”

Cure Finders play a key role in funding the work of young researchers at the very start of their careers, giving them the support they need to drive forward innovative research into MND.

Thanks to your donations, we’re able to provide the catalyst for their work which will lead to greater understanding of MND and fuel the development of effective new treatments and ultimately a cure.
