Our MND Connect helpline has been awarded the prestigious Helplines Standard certification for its support for people affected by MND.
The free helpline offers information and support to people with MND, healthcare professionals and their families and carers. So far this year, the helpline team have handled more than 11,000 calls and emails.
The Helplines Standard is a nationally recognised quality standard which defines and certifies best practice in helpline work.
MND Connect Manager Keeley Wilson-Townsend said: “Achieving Helplines Standard accreditation is a proud moment for MND Connect and demonstrates our commitment to delivering a trusted, professional, and compassionate service for everyone affected by MND.
“People will always remember how we made them feel and in moments of crisis, grief, or uncertainty it’s that emotional connection and that empathy and reassurance we offer which leaves a lasting impact.
“Kindness, compassion and presence is the foundation of our service – we don’t just provide information. We provide comfort, dignity and hope.”
Sheila Tearrell, who is living with MND, said: “Getting my diagnosis was the most frightening thing I have ever had to deal with. I can't tell you how much difference knowing MND Connect is out there who we can turn to for help and advice at this point.”
The Helplines Partnership recognised the Association’s dedication to providing a high-quality service and best practice for the benefit of callers, funders, staff and everyone affected by MND.
