Jo Mountney

Jo joined the MND Association in January 2024 and has focused on fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive culture within the organisation. As Director of People, Culture, and Inclusion, Jo is responsible for the Association’s HR, Volunteering, Learning & Development, Safeguarding and Inclusion functions.

Over the past 12 months, Jo has led several key initiatives, including enhancing organisational collaboration and implementing strategies to further engage and support the Association’s staff and volunteers. Her leadership has been instrumental in driving positive cultural change and ensuring the Association is well-placed to deliver on its mission.

In addition to Jo’s skills and experiences in a professional capacity, Jo and her family are familiar with the devastating nature of MND after Jo’s father-in-law was diagnosed with the disease in 2018. He sadly died just two years later. This personal experience fuels Jo’s commitment to the Association’s work. Jo has also participated in various fundraising challenges in memory of her father-in-law, having completed the Association’s Run 21 challenge in June 2021 and, most recently, took part in the 75-mile dog walking challenge with her dog, Poppy, in Autumn 2023.

Before joining the MND Association, Jo spent more than two decades at the Merlin Entertainments Group, where she held several leadership roles. Her most recent position as Divisional HR Operations Director involved driving standards and consistency across the Resort Theme Park division. Jo’s tenure at Merlin was marked by significant achievements, including increasing team diversity, enhancing employee engagement, and winning a National Training Award during her time at Alton Towers Resort.
