Kevin Sinfield CBE and his team have smashed through their £777,777 target in support of MND charities as they near the end of their sixth 7 in 7 Challenge.
Rugby league legend Kevin, who is a patron for the MND Association, started his latest challenge, 7 in 7: Together in Bury St Edmunds on Monday before heading over to Cork for Day 2. The team visited Swansea on Wednesday, Sheffield on Thursday and Cumbria on Friday. They will travel to Scotland on Saturday before ending the challenge in Leeds on Sunday. The team is aiming to complete seven ultra marathons in seven regions of the UK and Ireland in just seven days to raise money for six MND charities - the MND Association, MND Scotland, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, Darby Rimmer Foundation, Irish MND Association and the Leeds Hospital Charity. To date, Kevin’s challenges have raised more than £10 million.
He said: “I want people with MND to know that we'll be there fighting with them. We know MND doesn’t have any boundaries which is why we visit different places to show this community how much love and support there is for them.
“This challenge is all about the people and the conversations we have are what keep us going. But it’s a really tough challenge. The travel is hard, but we’ll always give it everything we’ve got. I won't let anyone down.”
Kevin said thoughts of his friend and former teammate Rob Burrow CBE who died from MND in June 2024 won’t be far from his mind.
“It’s hard that Rob isn’t here, but I hold onto the memories and the laughs we had along the way. In the really tough moments when I think of him I know he’ll drive us all on. Arriving in Leeds on Sunday will be very special.”

The Impact
So far Kevin’s challenges have raised an incredible £6.5 million to support the MND Association’s work.
This money continues to make a huge difference to the lives of people with and affected by MND, while also funding cutting edge research.
Among the many projects the money has supported are:
- Research projects which help to get us closer to the development of new treatments for MND;
- The Association’s Research Nurse Network which will help improve access to clinical trials for people living with MND;
- The MND Association’s Children, Young People and Families programme – supporting children and young people affected by MND with information, grants and access to counselling services.
