The Burrow family were honoured at the Pride of Britain awards

Association patrons Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield and Rob’s wife Lindsey are all celebrating their special recognition awards from the Pride of Britain Awards.

The award ceremony took place in London on Sunday 8 October and showcased people from all over Britain who are remarkable for their bravery, efforts for the community and work on good causes.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Rob said, “I have grown up watching Pride of Britain and every year I am inspired by the true unsung heroes that make me proud to be British. It is even more special that I get to receive the award alongside my wife Lindsey and great friend Kevin. I am so proud of them.”

Lindsay described how Rob sharing his diagnosis had changed things for people living with MND “People now know what MND is,” says Lindsey. “This is so people no longer have to explain. And it is about giving hope to families who have little. You are given bleak statistics, we want to bring change, more funding and research.”

Rob and Lindsey have opened up their lives and their home to help spread awareness of the disease with two documentaries made about their situation since Rob’s diagnosis. One, Rob Burrow: Living with MND, made it to the finals of the National Television Awards in September. Kevin Sinfield has also featured in the documentary Kevin Sinfield: Going the Extra Mile about his fundraising efforts for the Association.

The awards are hosted by Carol Vorderman and Ashley Banjo and will be shown on ITV on October 12.
