The iconic Leeds Marathon, inspired by Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association patron Rob Burrow CBE, will return to the city on Sunday 12 May 2024.

The MND Association has been named as a charity partner of the event for the second year running, alongside the Leeds Hospitals Charity.

Record breaking numbers have entered this year’s Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, with more than 12,000 runners now signed up to take part. Attracting runners of all abilities and ages, this year’s event will welcome thousands of first-time marathon runners, with over half of entries taken up by those who are new to 26.2 miles.

Friends Kevin and Rob are set to be among the thousands of participants taking part in this year’s debut event, which is organised by Run For All.

Rob Burrow said:

“I am truly honoured that the marathon will be returning again next year in my name. Leeds is such a wonderful city and I am so grateful for all the support the city has shown not just for me and my family, but for the event and the entire MND community.

“Knowing that we will have another opportunity to raise awareness and funds to fight MND, as well as a number of other charities personal to thousands of other runners is just a fantastic feeling. Good luck to everyone who signs up and thank you again for all your support.”

Linda Allen, Director of Fundraising at the MND Association said:

“The announcement of next year’s Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon a month before this year’s inaugural run has even taken place is testament to the strength of feeling there is for our patrons Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield, who have inspired this event and so many others.

“We’re so grateful to this year’s runners who have chosen to support the MND Association, raising money to support people affected by MND across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and to fund vital research. There will always be more to do so we hope some of those runners will return next year to help raise more funds – and new ones will be inspired to sign up.”
