Welcome to our Northern Ireland Branch
Across all of Northern Ireland we aim to provide the best possible support to people living with and affected by MND.
More information, including latest news and updates, can be found on the MND Association NI specific website: mndani.com
About us
Our activities are led by our local teams of staff and volunteers. Our core aims include:
- Providing year-round local support via our network of passionate Association Visitors who support the MND community through signposting to support, funding and more, as well as lending a listening ear for emotional support.
- Organising informal and social support meetings and events for people living with and affected by MND to come together, connect and make lasting friendships.
- Nurturing inclusive and impactful volunteering opportunities - whether you have an hour a week, month or even year, there's a way to get involved - read more about our volunteering vacancies and activities below.
- Offering funding, including for specialist equipment - read more about our Support Funds
- Hosting exciting awareness and fundraising events and activities, for which we provide materials and guidance on how to activate something directly in your area.
- Professional development and learning pathways for health care professionals.

We are delighted with any amount of time or skills you wish to share locally with us, but across Northern Ireland we are on the lookout for:
Committee roles - specifically leaders, operational roles and engagement support. These roles are great for someone looking for a more flexible opportunity that channels their specific technical skills and organisational aptitude. Read about our local officer roles here: Local volunteering | MND Association
- Support Volunteers across NI - with a specific call to action for Support Meeting Co-ordinators regionally, and Association Visitors in the Northern and Southern Trust regions. These roles are great for good listeners and people who can help communicate and share information clearly and compassionately - Read about our support roles here: Support volunteer roles | MND Association
- Local Fundraisers - specifically for attending events and cheque presentations and local planning/activations. These roles are great for natural networkers with a creative streak, and people who know how to engage our communities to have an impact. In return for giving your time, big or small - we offer various perks and support:
- Training and ongoing learning opportunities
- Networking opportunities with volunteers and within the sector
- Skill development opportunities - especially beneficial for CV building
- Recognition pathways
- Opportunities to be involved with organisational strategic projects and working groups
- Volunteer expenses policy including travel
