Welcome to the Torbay & District Group
Welcome to our local group of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association. We’re a community of volunteers who choose to give our time because we care deeply about the people and families affected by MND in our area. Everything we do is powered by volunteers — neighbours supporting neighbours, each of us bringing our own skills, experiences, and compassion.
Supporting people living with and affected by MND is at the heart of what we do. We stay connected with people, offering a friendly face, emotional support and a listening ear. We do this via our wonderful support volunteers who can offer home visits and hold regular meetings both face to face and virtually. Our aim is to ensure people feel supported, informed, and never isolated.
Our group works to make MND better understood in the community. We talk to local groups, schools, businesses, and anyone willing to listen, helping to raise awareness of the condition and the challenges it brings. We also organise fundraising events and love supporting others raising vital funds to support our work.
We also support both local and national campaigns pushing for better services, faster support, and a stronger voice for everyone affected by MND.
Our branch is built on kindness, teamwork, and the belief that communities can make a real difference. Whether you’re looking for support, information, or ways to get involved, you’re always welcome here.
Support Meetings
Torbay Support Meeting. The meetings are for anyone living with and affected by MND, they are friendly and informal, with no set agenda, just a great place to come and meet others, talk about things that maybe concerning you, have some questions answered, and hear about the local support available.
Held on the third Friday of every month at Rowcroft Hospice, Torbay 11.00am - 12.30pm
Virtual support meeting. These meetings are held on Zoom and are for people living with MND in Devon & Cornwall. Again these meetings are friendly and informal, just come along and chat amongst friends.
Held on the third Wednesday of every month between 11.00am – 12.30pm
If you are interested in joining either or both of the meetings above please contact Jo Campbell and you will be added to the invite list. Email jo.campbell@mndassociation.org or phone 01604 800627
