Become a trustee of our growing charity
For more than four decades the MND Association has been at the heart of the global fight against MND, offering advice and support when it is needed most and driving forward research towards effective new treatments and ultimately, a cure.
The MND Association is a charity that is growing, in terms of our research portfolio, our income and our voice to shout louder about MND, to make sure the voices of people with MND are heard by those who can make a difference. We have never been in a better place to beat MND - once and for all.
This summer, the Association will be looking for one new trustee to join our Board of Trustees.
To help support the skills of the Board, we are particularly interested to receive nominations from members who have the following knowledge and experience:
- Governance
- Legal
- People and Culture
- Transformational Change
- Clinical Service Delivery
- Healthcare
- Charity CEO
- Research/Scientific
What does a trustee do?
Trustees are volunteers with legal responsibility for overseeing the Association. They act together to govern the Association where they help to set its strategic direction. Trustees are responsible for making sure the goals of the MND Association are met, ensuring it continues to meet the needs of people living with and affected by MND.
Our elected trustees are voted for by our members. As an elected trustee you will sit for a three-year term, with the option to stand for re-election, serving a maximum nine years.
Time commitment
Becoming a trustee is a serious time commitment and trustees are expected to attend about ten meetings per year. Trustees will be expected to attend four Board meetings and sit on two Committees. We expect the time commitment for the role to be 2 to 3 days per month, spread over a 12-month cycle. Our Committee meetings are held online, and the Board meeting is hybrid, as required. As a new trustee, you would take part in an induction programme.
Our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
We particularly encourage nominations from people living with MND and other long-term conditions or disabilities, as well as under-represented groups and communities including people from ethnic minority backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ and young people.
