The MND Association has been recognised as a top 10 charity funder of UK research thanks to the generous support of our fundraisers and donors.
As shown in the recently published Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) Member Dashboard, the Association is now tenth in the list of the UK’s largest research funders (based on average annual spending on UK research between 2023 and 2025) - reinforcing our reputation as a key global player in medical research and the fight against MND.
This important milestone is recognition of the Association’s continued investment in innovative new research which has exceeded more than £10 million each year for the past two years. With the launch of our new research and innovation strategy earlier this year, the Association plans to build on that progress, doubling investment in MND research by 2030.
We will drive the progress people affected by MND have been clear they want and need. We can accelerate treatment pipelines, deepen understanding, improve diagnosis and improve everyday life. And by investing at scale, we can ensure the brightest minds stay in the field and the most promising ideas become real opportunities. People affected by MND deserve nothing less.

The Association has also passed the AMRC’s Expert Review Audit, meeting its six principles of expert review.
This news confirms our use of robust and rigorous research funding processes, which allow us to fund the best research. We have over 45 years’ experience identifying and funding the most promising MND research and all research projects we fund have clear clinical relevance and/or therapeutic potential.
