For people living with motor neurone disease (MND), home adaptations are essential. Ramps, wet rooms, stairlifts, wider doorways can help people stay safe, independent, and able to live with dignity.
But the system is failing them.
The Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG), which funds these adaptations, takes around a year on average to complete. With a third of people with MND dying within a year of diagnosis, this delay is simply unacceptable.
We’re calling on every council to commit to completing all approved large adaptations within four and a half months because people with MND don’t have time to wait.

For people with MND, the system isn’t just slow, it’s failing. Too many stories are highlighting a system that is not designed for progressive conditions like MND.
