LGBT+ History Month is a time to reflect on the struggles and achievements of the LGBT+ community. It’s an opportunity to learn, share, and celebrate the progress made, while acknowledging the work still to be done.
This month, we invite you to take a moment to connect with your colleagues by sharing your own experiences or using the questions below to spark a thoughtful conversation in the Take 5 Teams channel.
- Who is an LGBT+ figure - past or present - who inspires you, and why?
- Looking at the PRIDE flag in the Association logo above, can you identify what the colours represent?
- How can we make our workplace a more inclusive and supportive space for LGBT+ colleagues?
- Can you name each letter in the acronym LGBTQIA?
- Can you share a positive experience of inclusion or allyship you’ve witnessed or been a part of?
- Have you had a moment in your life that shaped your understanding of LGBT+ identities or issues?
- What’s a moment in LGBT+ history you think more people should know about?
- Are there any books, films, or TV shows that have helped you learn more about LGBT+ history and experiences?
There are members of staff and members of the MND community who identify as LGBT+ themselves or have a close connection who does. It's vital we are educated, informed, and inclusive to all experiences so we can better support all members of the MND community. By engaging in these conversations, we can nurture a culture of understanding, respect, and allyship. Let’s learn from each other and celebrate the diversity that makes us stronger.
