Events

There are many ways you can get involved in our events as a Fundraiser, an Event Volunteer or even planning your own fundraising event. However you choose to support us, your help will ensure the care and support of people living with MND both now and in the future. We look forward to hearing from you, welcoming you to #TeamMND and adding your event to our calendar.

Our Fundraising team will be happy to help you start your fundraising journey! Please contact us at 01604 611860 or fundraising@mndassociation.org or head over to the MND Association Fundraising page.

Great Oaks Support Group

Date: Tuesday February 14th 2-4pm
Location: Great Oaks Coleford

Great Oaks is a small informal MND Support Group of people from the Forest of Dean who meet on the 2nd Tuesday of alternate months to enjoy tea and cake and share news of what everyone has been up to since the last meeting. Occasionally a member of the Great Oaks Complementary Therapies Team will Pop in to talk about what’s on offer.

Ellen Murdock, MND Association Area Support Co-ordinator, comes along each month to support AV Clare Williams, and volunteers Ruth Brennan-Craddock and Chris Geeson who run the group.

Just let Clare if you would like to come or just turn up on the day if that’s easier for you.

SWIMATHON at CHELTENHAM LIDO on SUNDAY 25th SEPTEMBER 2022

The Autumn Sun Shone - all bit it a little chilly - When Joanne Byrne bravely set the challenge to 25 of her friends and work colleagues to swim 2.5 or 5k of the Cheltenham Lido.

Such a great atmosphere was set with an opening speech by Alex Chalk MP who spoke about the many challenges faced by those touched by MND and how our charity needs every ounce of support we can muster. Alex took to the water with the first set of swimmers - lots of applause and cheers of encouragement continued as each set of new swimmers bravely swam their distance.

With a gorgeous array of home-baked cakes and goodies, we were set for a fantastic fundraiser. A raffle added to the funds brilliantly and raised awareness of our group with many swimmers and families who were at the lido for one of the final weeks of the season. Huge thanks to Jo and the generous band of swimmers for giving their time and achieving so much sponsorship for the event and to Chris Geeson and Family for the delicious cakes and arranging the raffle.
