We raise funds to enable us to provide practical help and information to people with MND, and to fund research that we hope will develop effective alleviating treatment for MND and, one day, find a cure.
We receive no national or local government funding and are entirely reliant on our own fund raising efforts and the generosity of our supporters.

Memorial Bench
A memorial bench is a heart-warming way to remember a loved one. A bench was recently installed on Twickenham Green in memory of Galen Rosenberg and his parents, who set up the Maple Leaf community pharmacy just off The Green some years ago. Galen continued to run the business after his parents retired and became a big part of the local community. Galen sadly passed away from MND.
Local pharmacist Anil Rokad, who had worked in the practice for many years, initiated the installation of the memorial bench. The family also saw this as an opportunity to raise some funds for the MND Association.
The bench was inaugurated on Sunday, 16 November. At 11am, the Mayor of Richmond, Councillor Penny Frost, gave a lovely speech and started the countdown to the cutting of the ribbon around the bench. Several of Galen's family were there, and quite a crowd of people who knew him locally.
Branch Committee Member Anne Hamerton and husband Ian were there too and set up banners and helped facilitate the donations. Abigail Igbokwe also attended on behalf of the Association.
We collected £146+ in cash and £170 on cards on the day and generated lots of awareness and goodwill. It was a lovely event. If you would like to make a donation please click here.
Walking with Pride – Again
For the fourth consecutive year, the West London Queer Project (WLQP) Pride Walk brought people together to raise awareness and funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Held on 20 June in Hammersmith, the event welcomed more than 220 walkers, volunteers and supporters. Jeremy Vine, Patron of the MND Association's West London Branch, opened the event, highlighting the importance of raising awareness and supporting research before leading the warm-up.
Participants enjoyed a 10km walk along the Thames Path before celebrating at the Black Lion pub with live entertainment from YsHee Black, Adam All, Lola Lasagne and Tom Heath. During the afternoon, Jim Marshall, Trustee, Treasurer and Vice Chair of the MND Association, spoke about the impact of MND and the continued need to support those living with the disease while funding research into better treatments.
The event also provided an opportunity to meet supporters, including Zoe Nixon, who is living with MND and continues to inspire WLQP's fundraising efforts. Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the day successfully raised both awareness and vital funds. Special thanks go to Aubrey Crawley, the WLQP team, our volunteers, and everyone who took part or donated.
A fantastic bucket collection at Brentford FC
We were given a wonderful opportunity by Brentford Football Club to raise funds, with a bucket collection at their match on Saturday 7 May 2022. Their match against Southampton promised a very large crowd.
The club’s generous offer included 12 tickets for collectors to watch the match. Plus, extra tickets for people living with MND and their carers, with easy access to parking nearby.
The collection, and some background on MND, was publicised by the Club. A Just Giving page for this event was set up too, with QR codes displayed on the collection buckets to make it easy for those without cash to donate.
Thanks to all these efforts over £1650 was raised. A truly fantastic sum!
