We raise funds to enable us to provide practical help and information to people with MND, and to fund research that we hope will develop effective alleviating treatment for MND and, one day, find a cure.
We receive no national or local government funding and are entirely reliant on our own fund raising efforts and the generosity of our supporters.

Another Fantastic Pride 10k Walk in Support of MND
We’re thrilled to share that the West London Queer Project (WLQP) once again dedicated their annual Pride Walk to supporting the MND Association and our local branch. Now in its third year, this vibrant event was bigger and better than ever, with a fantastic turnout and a real sense of community spirit. Walkers gathered in Lyric Square, Hammersmith, where they were warmly welcomed by WLQP organiser Aubrey Crawley, drag queen Beary Poppins, and Zoe Nixon, who lives with MND and continues to inspire WLQP’s incredible support.
Also present were a number of our Branch Members and representatives from the Association. The latter included Jonathan Phang who is now an Ambassador for the Association and was a great presence - and photographer! - throughout the day.
After a lively warm-up, participants embarked on a scenic 10K walk along the Thames Path, taking in picturesque sights passing by the gorgeous Barnes and Mortlake, before crossing over Chiswick bridge back to the north side of the river. The home stretch went along the Thames Path through Dukes Meadows and Chiswick Mall. The walk finished at the Black Lion Pub, where the celebrations continued with drag performances featuring Luna Cortez, Vanity Von Glow and Brent Would, delicious food and drinks, and a hugely successful raffle organised by Zoe and her family.
Altogether, the event raised nearly £3,000 and helped shine a light on MND within the wider community. We’re incredibly grateful to WLQP, all the walkers, donors, and volunteers for their enthusiasm and dedication. It was a day full of joy, generosity, and genuine impact — thank you!
Lynn Wilson looks after our branch Instagram pages. Here are her reflections on the walk:
‘Fantastic and such a fun day out at the West London MNDA Walk 2025. The rain stayed away and everyone finished with smiles on their faces. The after party in The Black Lion was excellent again this year and the entertainment was first class fun.’
Kapish Narda, our Chair, also added 'This year’s walk was a joyful show of solidarity — raising vital funds, spreading awareness, and reminding us why supporting families living with MND matters more than ever.'
A fantastic bucket collection at Brentford FC
We were given a wonderful opportunity by Brentford Football Club to raise funds, with a bucket collection at their match on Saturday 7 May 2022. Their match against Southampton promised a very large crowd.
The club’s generous offer included 12 tickets for collectors to watch the match. Plus, extra tickets for people living with MND and their carers, with easy access to parking nearby.
The collection, and some background on MND, was publicised by the Club. A Just Giving page for this event was set up too, with QR codes displayed on the collection buckets to make it easy for those without cash to donate.
Thanks to all these efforts over £1650 was raised. A truly fantastic sum!
